The Accessible eLearning For All (ALFA) system will enable educational
content providers to create course modules on any subject with the
minimum of technical knowledge.
By creating this in line with the industry standard W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and combining this standard
with peer appraisal from a wide variety of disability related groups
both locally and by accessing online disabled groups throughout
the world, the project will provide the maximum in accessibility
standards for all users regardless of the type or level of their
disability.
This website demonstrates the potential to a global audience and
displays a module of a Disability Awareness Training course which is being utilised by
Salford University. They have incorporated this module within the training materials for their
Masters degree in Accessible Environments course. The example, entitled "The Medical and Social Model of Disability" was written by the Self Direction Community Project, one of the ALFA partners, and can be seen by following this link to the Salford University module.
